Quote to be thought

Image
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." - Pablo Picasso This quote got my consent immediately. After days, I realized that it does not go well with me. I used to be a kid who would just play and play. Afternoon or night, I would be found outdoors. Neither any sign of creativity nor any artistic piece of work. On the name of participation in any competition (co-curricular), there are only 3 occasions. Out of which actual credit goes to me for only two competitions. These were dance competitions and I participated in them just because of the fact that at that time I was not rational enough to make out that I am not into dancing.  In the third one, which was a clay competition, my sister made a model from clay and I just took it to school saying I have made it. I used to be a kid who knew only - schedule of cartoon shows, how to eat and sleep. So above incidents prove the first part of the above mentioned quote contradicto

Absent Mindedness

Image
Has it ever happened to you that you went to the room and forgot the purpose of going there?  Answer for many of you would be in affirmative. It happens mostly because our attention is diverted to something else and this is what we call phenomenon of Absent Mindedness. Another common instance is when you accidentally fix your gaze on some object and sometimes (embarrassingly) on a person while thinking about something else. Similarly, one usually tunes out from the conversation and ends up saying something irrelevant to the prevailing topic. To begin with not-so-common cases, once I boarded a bus mis-taking it as some other bus. On the whole route, I was wondering that since when has this bus started going by this road. In between this thought process, I realized that my penultimate destination has arrived and I left the bus. After re-checking the route-displaying-board, I got to know that this bus was supposed to take me to my ultimate destination and now that it has gone

Words that matter

Image
“Say ‘Thank You’ whenever someone helps you.” One of the basic lessons which everyone has learned in the school. There are some words which if not uttered will not affect, but sheer utterance can make a difference.  Greeting is a gesture that can bring smile on the others' face and does not cost you anything (except setting aside your ego). Once I was in a shop and was waiting for my turn, a guy in a white coat (probably a doctor) bought what he wanted, paid the bill and went to his vehicle.  After a moment, he came back and said “Thank You” to the shopkeeper and returned back. He would have made it a usual routine, after seeing such expressions on the faces of people which I saw that day on the face of shopkeeper. Amidst all his busy and tiresome day, he smiled and welcomed the guy. May be I am exaggerating but it’s a writer’s thing. Isn't it? Similarly, on your birthday what you crave for is greetings and when it comes from a least expected person it means a l

To: People Spreading Laziness!!

Image
“I’ll do this work tomorrow” says a person who has delayed the work for the past few days. Being lazy is an art in itself. One can say that “I am processing something creative in my mind that is why I am not in motion” whereas the reason behind being motionless is the lazy quotient indeed. You’ll have to come up with innovative ideas to stop people from calling you lazy. These are just lines to be said. Such people don’t give a damn if people call them lazy. I am unfortunate enough to live with such lazy people. The lazy family! Getting into details, lazy people spend their holidays laying, trying to sleep and sleeping… It hardly takes 10 - 15 minutes for them to fall asleep. (At least, they show it like this in Shinchan series).  My sister spends her free time by sleeping. Once I saw her going to bed to re-sleep just after 2-3 hours passed since she woke up. Ask me what my dad’s possible after-retirement-plans are, with no second thoughts in my mind I can say lazing aroun

"First day at ____"

Image
People usually have fond memories of ‘First day at College’, ‘First day at coaching class’ or any such place. As a school kid, whenever I saw any essay wherein description of first-day-at-so-and-so-place was required (obviously one among the other options), I would turn blind for that particular option. In this way, I got fewer options than others for writing essay. It further implies that I’ll have to blabber on some other topic which is not interesting either. (Oh! I’m getting diverted.) To start with, every child has bad, rather crying ‘First day at school’. We all have laughed upon the pictures of that crying kid whose face has turned red because of forcibly being sent to the school.  My story is no different.  Fortunately, my crying pictures are not taking rounds on the internet. As my dad was a teacher in the same school, in which I was supposed to study, my teachers were reportedly telling my father about me crying continuously. Then came the time when I had

Pranks

Image
Pranks After hearing this word you start smiling. Probably, the reason for your smile is the flashback of all mischievous things you have done in your past (or maybe of which you’ve been the victim). People who have monotonous childhood are often called as ‘good boy/girl’. But, when they are grownups, all they have is this ‘good’ tag only. No naughty-kid stories. Sadly, I fall in this category of ‘good girl’. Gradually, I changed and started doing all such deeds. It has now become my daily routine to boo ( making a dog like sound to scare someone ) my sister who screams every time I do this to her (despite knowing that I’m going to boo her). Once I was reading a newspaper aloud, in which some haunted story was reported. After listening to it, my sister went to kitchen for some work and I followed her. I don’t know for what reason, she started screaming. I was laughing on her reaction and to scare her more I started laughing in a ghostly manner and she was saying “She is haunt

Travelling in a CTU Bus

Image
CAUTION: People who are yet to travel in a CTU bus may not relate to it! Chandigarh is known for being a well organized and planned city. However, it has its own flaws. Major problem faced by its citizens is traffic congestion. To tackle it, Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) has introduced long low floor buses to carry maximum passengers. And I mean this word ‘maximum’ literally. Administrators need to travel in CTU Bus for one day to get a reality check.           This is how it looks like As a regular college-going person, I am well acquainted with the conditions of these buses. While these buses may look beautiful to outsiders, feelings of the travelers are completely different. No matter how good your day has started, you will be annoyed as soon as you find that your bus is late than the scheduled time (Late arrival of bus has now been considered ‘usual’). This thing, sometimes, prove out to be good when you are late and still able to board the same bus. T

Social Networking Sites

Image
Social Networking Sites (+ Whatsapp) is the second name of Internet for many people. People, nowadays, get their internet plans activated to use SNSs only. However, we can’t deny the fact that the range of internet is much, much larger than of SNSs. “Are you on Facebook ?” or “Do you have Whatsapp in your (smart) phone?” These are the questions that the newly-became-friends ask each other. And if the answer is in affirmative then they get added in each other’s friend list. That is a different thing if they, afterwards, do not converse with each other online and it just becomes a medium to increase number of friends. Then, like everything has pros and cons, SNSs too have some pros. As the founder and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg claims “To make this world more open and connected place”; he has been pretty successful in it. Now that is a different thing if this connection is more applicable on unknown people. Once, a childhood friend of mine – whose only nick

To: First Benchers

“ First Benchers ” What comes to your mind whenever you hear this? Perhaps your mind starts portraying the picture of that studious boy with spectacles on who can only think of studies and studies only. Many of you would agree to this and possess similar mindset. Although, this might not be the case and just a pre-assumption. Let me give you an instance. You all must have seen those  pictures doing rounds on social networking sites  where first benchers are shown like geeks who know nothing beyond the world of books. We automatically assume that first benchers are like ‘ Chatur ’ (popular character of 3 Idiots); First benchers do not like to bunk lectures and….. all that stuff.  Busy in getting clicked or talking                                          However, the truth is that the position of the bench does not decide the type of student you are. Like, you may find that studious girl in your class who attends ‘mass-bunk lectures’ on any bench and not specifically

Happening day!

Image
I opened my eyes to see what the time is and saw the clock striking 8:00. I asked my sibling, who was roaming around, “what time it is?” The reply came its 8 ‘o’ clock, with her eyes gesturing towards the clock and asking why don’t you see it yourself when the clock is in front of you. I asked her again and she repeated the answer. I got up from my bed abruptly trying to figure out why my alarm did not ring at 7 ‘o’ clock. After gaining my senses I realized that it was because I forgot to set my alarm last night. And then with the speed of bullet I managed to do all my daily-morning-works-on-time (of course by shedding the laziness and eliminating wasteful and unnecessary activities). Just as I stepped out of my home I found the weather very pleasing and on my way to the destination drizzling started. After walking down in this lovely weather, I entered my class and found that there was no electricity in the college (most irritating thing about the rainy season which we

To: Music Lovers

Image
Music To some it is annoying (like when it is played on a Chinese mobile); to some it is just a source of entertainment; to some it is passion; to some it is addiction or life. I belong to the last category. People in this world are addicted to deadly things. But, Yes, I am addicted to music. It might sound silly but it is a truth. If I do not listen to music for days, then my mood goes down. Sometimes, when there is a lot of tensions’ going on my mind, what I need is music player , with headphones or without headphones. Either ways it will help in reducing the burden. It feels so soothing when you tune into your favourite song(s) amidst all this pressure. It makes you forget them for a while and refreshes the mind which, in turn, provides new ways to tackle the issues. Ironically, it is not that I listen to it only when I am pissed-or-something-like-that, I am tuned to it for the most of the time. Be it when I am working, be it while I am lying or be it when I am sittin

To: Kind People

Image
“What has happened to Kindness?” Many of us have been caught saying this. Though the matter-of-fact is that kindness has not completely walked out of the scene and one needs to have an eye for kind hearted people. Kindness may not necessarily pay back you in monetary terms, but the ecstasy derived from doing such deeds will motivate you enough to continue it. I am darn sure just like me, you too would have witnessed such people who are kind and receptive to the needy people. So this post is dedicated to all those kind hearted people who have enough courage to stand up for such deeds.  For instance, once I was walking my way back to home under the scorching heat of the sun that suddenly a lady on Activa came and voluntarily offered me to give me lift. Although I was not facing her (which implies that she didn’t even see my face which negates the chances of her knowing me). That is a different thing that I denied as I almost reached my destina

Just a Beginner

Image
So, here comes my first blog. You must be thinking that blogging is a big deal and only few selected people can do this. However, what I firmly believe is that once you have made your mind, then your mind's pervasive thoughts get a new direction to work towards (Like if you want to start something in field of art and innovation, your mind will start generating various creative ideas and thus creativity automatically flows in). And believing this stupid philosophy of mine, I gathered the courage to start this blogging thing. Well, I am little nervous as it’s my first blog and have no idea what people should write in blogs. But one thing what I know for sure is that I would like to dedicate my first blog to Babaji because he is the one who is supervising all the things in my life and all I have is because of his grace. Besides, I would like to thank and appreciate you – yes! You (who made an effort to read this stuff). It is because of readers like you that I did not have s
