Test check: Writer living or dead?  This one is not coming straight from the writer's heart, but out of the urge to break the blogging drought that seems to have shaken up (or rather deserted) this space for quite a long time now. There are a lot of things that are happening for the first time, and I believe if I start to gather my thoughts, I'll pen something worth recording. Starting with the 10-day long trip. It must have been evident from my blog posts that I've lived a boring, not-so-outgoing life so far. All I have are routine life experiences - how it went on in school, college diaries turning into office memoirs and general observations. So, when I got to know that I'd be out of home for more than a week at a stretch, instead of getting excited, I got a bit worried, given the fact that I keep on falling sick every month or so. To elaborate, I get tired easily; I mean, I feel like 60 in my late 20s. Will I be able to walk long distances? (Yes, I did. I, who had e...

Accounting Diaries

Around these days, 5 years ago, I was inducted into accounting as a professional. So, no matter how much love-hate relationship you share with your professional life, it deserves a toast. Adding one more piece to my collection of poems. You know you're an Accountant, When you log into the professional bank account more often than your personal bank account. When you've signed more official cheques than your own cheque leaves ever in your life. When you get messed up in a multitude of passwords and dig in for a rescuing little secret piece of paper that holds your credentials. When you maintain and keep track of business accounts more religiously than your  individual bargains. When your speed on the numeric side of the keyboard is more than the alphabetic side, And calculators are one of your allies. When you end up opening spreadsheets (preferably MS excel) even when you are supposed to write in (MS) words. When you keep reminding yourself of the deadlines for the statutory...

Humanity - A Poem

Image
This composition was for a contest at my University. I am not bragging but I secured a position for it. Of course, it was an e-contest, which means less competition. Multiple winners for one position also paved the way for an easy victory. Enough of bragging-cum-bashing. Let's proceed.  Have a good read. HUMANITY God placed humans highest in the evolution chain because of the characteristic Humanity, However, these days it gushes through our blood in rarety.  Alas! All of us are lost in the race for vanity. From running away from moral and social responsibilities, To grabbing all possible benefits selfishly. Everyone is trying to seek some sort of parity,  But our actions reflect complete disparity. Hence, we need to take a pause for much-needed clarity. We must dig within ourselves to fetch our mind's sanity, And craft the humane deeds with all of our heart's purity. By bringing our efforts and actions in utter harmony. Amidst these testing times, we need to follow our c...

Gloomy Rhyme

I was getting suggestions from people around (not physically - Covid doesn't allow - but virtually) that I should indulge in some blogging. But who would tell them that a writer doesn't write out of boredom or just for the sake of timepass. At least, that is not the case with me. My writing depends upon the ideation of my mind.  So, here is a poem that I had written earlier; probably at the time when all the lights in my house were out and I was finding it hard to sleep due to the sheer influx of ideas. Upon re-reading it, I find it somewhat relative to the present day scenario. It goes like: All day long I watch comedy, But still I'm unable to find for my problems any substantial remedy. To be in peace and at content I wanna be, Do I need to go in for some another therapy? I keep on singing parody(ies), For all of the life's so-called tragedy(ies). I try to strike a camaraderie, But amidst all the chaos I fail to reach harmony. Anxiety is getting all of us into...

An Ode to Blogging Years

This one is to blogging, And the fact that I have a log-in. Helping me in decorating my bio(s), And attracting a few ‘Wow-s.’ I keep on changing the looks and design, And urge people to read posts of mine. Seeing views count, I let the words over-mount. Where my thoughts are expressed, And imagination gets its wings to spread. Not knowing what keeps people hooked, I write about what life has cooked. In a way improving my literary skills, and working as a (self) satisfaction pill, by saving my creativity from getting killed. A promise to keep you engaged, is what I'll try to manage. What started off as just a Blog, I never got to know when it started to mean a lot. Writer's  Poetess' Note:  This is the longest poem I've written so far.

To: My Parents

Attention: Proceed only if you can understand/read Punjabi language, but you can continue to read otherwise as well because I've written the other part of this post in English. Neither it's a parents day nor did I write it on that day. It's said to be on someday of July. (Unless you celebrate February 14 as Matri-Pitri Pujan Diwas initiated by Asaram ) The reason why I've mentioned this day is simply because this post has two poems, of course, written by me, for my parents and to show off as well . Earlier I used to find poems a little boring and 'poetess' didn't feel like music to ears but what to do if you end up being one, though occasionally. PART - I To Mummy Maa nhi kahaundi hai oh mummy, Dil ton hai oh saaf te changi. Gallan kardi hai anek, Par chhupui hai haje vi unhan vch neyaaniyaan wali khed. Gussa kade na kardi jo, Hasdi-Khirdi har pal oh. Bacheyaan naal rhi hai uljhi, Fikr vch unha de rhi hai dubbi, Kadar ...

Teenage Years - A poem

This one is to teenage years; though I'm actually not getting much nostalgic about those years. When I was a teen, How different I use to feel. How I lived in those days, Doing things in my own ways. My mood showed several ranges, All due to hormonal changes. How my behaviour was as a teen, Like, all the time irritated I had been. Things about which crazy I was, In which now I find many flaws. Gone are the teen years, Followed by the aging fears. Life is still plenty Making way for twenty…
