Lok Sabha Elections

Since its election time, I don't intend to support and publicize any particular party but I certainly am trying to restrain from BJP, particularly Modi. So I tried to perfectly time this post amidst the code of conduct. There cannot be an any better point of time to bash these Modi days.

Rather than launching any substantial manifesto apart from ‘upcoming good days’ (or 15 Lacs in each account), all his propaganda during the electioneering of 2014 was based upon highlighting the shortcomings of the opposite party and all that he could do to show others in bad light; ‘How I’m less bad than others’ or popularly called A figure among cyphers.

I wonder if the much-needed goodness that was promised during the campaigning days ever came. Just attractive scheme names are what we got in general, signifying more of drum beating and below than par implementation.
‘Swachh Bharat’ logo found a place on our currency, although the ‘Clean Ganga’ project still awaits its completion. ‘Make in India’ phrase now finds a place on the packing of many commodities which were already being made in India earlier as well. ‘Mann ki Baat’ is another example of how this person is more aligned to speeches and less to act. I don’t know if any progress has been made under ‘Digital India’ apart from Selfie with Modi (which doesn’t even count as progress).

And what’s more ironic is that the deadline for most of these schemes is set later than 2019 – the year in which their term is supposed to end.

What more disgraceful can be than letting a movie like 'The Accidental Prime Minister' come out, which openly insults the ex-bearer of PMO? Within a quarter, we've another Bollywood flick lined up 'PM Narendra Modi'. A smart tactic trying to influence the decision of the voters by keeping the release of both the movies in the Election year. In 2014, Modi had earned more votes due to lack of face in the other major contesting party.

I’m not even sure if he knows anything else than crying his throat out with exaggerated intonations but he certainly knows how to keep people busy. The first two 2nd Octobers of his term were marked as Swachh Bharat day on which the employees of central government were mandatorily asked to come to the office (on a national holiday) and conduct a cleanliness drive. Not that the initiative wasn’t good but the inconsistency of it is questionable, all the cleanliness can’t be done in one single day.

Then, Modi decided to video-chat with school children on 5th September – the Teachers’ day. That class of employees was made responsible for the smooth functioning of the event which was supposed to be in focus. The arrangement of screens and sound system, proper seating of capacity in schools which were otherwise running in double shifts was a challenge that concerned teachers had to face on a day attributed to them.

Adding a cherry to the cake, this government is such a master in fooling people instances of which are here:
1.      The much talked about removal of the then RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, who didn’t let him pursue his vested interests, out of which demonetisation is one. I clearly remember how my sibling received the news of demonetisation on Whatsapp. My first reaction was “Huh! This is not even possible, also WhatsApp is quick in spreading fake info.” T.V. was switched on.
*Thud* It was true. Such a drastic step was taken with just illusional benefits as fake new notes started to circulate in a matter of a few days.
Also, thanks to his fetish for issuing newer currency notes, all of us carry rainbows in our wallets with flying colours.
2.      The (interim) budget presented in 2019 was polished well. Initially, it shone by creating a hullabaloo that the minimum tax slab has been raised from 2.5 Lacs to 5 lacs but the glitch of a conditional rise in the slab (not meant for all in general) was gulped down only hours later, after the careful analysis.
3.      Also, it allegedly changed the method of calculation of GDP to get the desired rise in the numbers.
4.      Did we forget the number of tours he made to other nations? Can we enlist any 5 achievements of it?
What goes around comes around.

5.      He went on the spree of linking every identity document with AADHAR. It started with linking Bank Accounts to it, then came PAN-AADHAR link and finally mobile numbers. I was frustrated at this point. Every time you make a call, they played the audio message asking for linking the number with AADHAR before connecting the call. I had pledged that I won’t do it, no matter what. Go on, stop my number (even though it was my standard number to receive all the much needed OTPs) but sometimes the rebellion in me gets active so...
But, thankfully, the Supreme Court verdict came forbidding the mandatory linking of AADHAR with mobile numbers, deeming it unnecessary.

Behind his rise to this stature is the overwhelming support of his fans. I fail to understand why are people still in his favour except for Mr Ambani & Mr Ramdev, for they’ve obvious reasons. At the beginning of Modi-term, his supporters used to say you’ll be able to see the benefit of his actions in the 'long term' only. You can’t expect magical results from him overnight. One among such people used to be my friend who liked Modi earlier but thankfully she doesn’t have any liking for him now.

I don’t want to sound completely partial, so, after digging into myself I could not find even a handful(l) of things in his favour. Only the elimination of interview round for Group B, C & D jobs helps him bagging a few points.
(Trust me, I asked half a dozen people around to help me enlist his achievements but of no help.)

Here's downing the toast to 5 April fool years. I’ve never been much into politics but this is the time to counter the Modi-named wave that splashed onto our peaceful lives.

I hope better sense will prevail.
“Ab bas bahut hua yaar,
mud ke na aaye Modi ki bahaar.”
PS I knew that I hated Modi but I didn’t know that I hated him so much that I would end up writing 1000+ words of venom against him.
